About Our Service
Dudley Group of Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides a Breast Screening Service to an eligible population of approximately 135,000 women residing in the Dudley, Wolverhampton and South Staffordshire areas and also provides a symptomatic breast service within Dudley.
The Breast Screening main hub (Unit) is located at Russells Hall Hospital in Dudley. The service has three assessment centres based at Russells Hall Hospital, New Cross Hospital, and Cannock Chase Hospital. There are also three static screening sites and 3 mobile mammography units.
The service is forward thinking and has excellent multi-disciplinary cross team relationships with Surgery, Pathology, Oncology and breast care nurse teams.
The service has a wide range of digital equipment including Hologic Selenia and Dimensions, Stereotactic attachments devices, Philips ultrasound machines and Bard Encor vacuum biopsy system.
You will be actively involved with National Breast Screening Programme as well as the symptomatic service; and will be part of new developments and innovations within the specialty of mammography.
This role will cover all of the duties expected of a band 6 Mammographer. You will possess current experience in the field of Mammography and be qualified as a HCPC Registered Radiographer, along with the Certificate in Competence in Mammography. The successful candidates will be highly organised, with excellent written and verbal communication skills, and able to work as part of a team with the ability to work under pressure and maintain concentration within a busy environment.
The mammographer will be required to travel to the all the Mobile Units and Static Sites; hence will need to be able to commute to meet the needs of the role. However, wherever possible, we strive to base you to the locations that closest to your home – please state on your application form your nearest location – Dudley areas, Wolverhampton areas, or South Staffordshire areas.
