Can you help us build a cleaner, greener, fairer future for all? The Grantham Institute is looking for a dedicated person to promote our work to the media and deliver programmes that engage people with Imperial research on climate change and the environment.
You will join our communication team to enthusiastically find opportunities to engage the media and be the first point of call for journalists’ enquiries, influencing debate and helping to communicate helpful narratives around climate change understanding and action. You will help to craft and deliver programmes that engage diverse audiences with our campaign objectives, working with the Media and Events Officer, Communications Manager, and Director of Policy and Translation.

Duties And Responsibilities
Current projects include engaging communities living around Imperial’s White City Campus with solutions to local air pollution, and developing the Grantham Art Prize for 2020-21, a collaborative art-science competition that commissions and exhibits works of fine art that reflect on the subject of climate change.
We particularly want to hear from you if you can bring experience of working with local communities and underserved audience groups. A key part of this role will be building connections and being the driving force behind collaborations between Imperial’s research on climate change and local residents and groups around our White City Campus.
Essential Requirements
Interest in climate change and the environment, and the culture sector
- Experience delivering of a wide range of communications projects, including media relations, outreach and engagement with research
- Well-developed interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team, such as working flexibly, assisting colleagues and adapting to new ways of working
- Creative thinking and problem solving
- Ability to grasp and understand scientific or technical concepts

The College cannot normally apply for a Certificate of Sponsorship for this post under Tier 2 of the UKVI’s Points Based System. This post is a part-time post with a 21 per hour week.
We will meet (on Teams) all suitable candidates for an interview with questions designed to understand how you meet the essential criteria. We will ask you to present an outreach/engagement activity that you have devised prior to the interview, based on a brief that we provide, and we will assess your writing skills in a timed exercise.
