Specialty Doctor – Urology

SPECIALITY DOCTOR UROLOGY

We are looking to appoint a Speciality Doctor in Urology based at Walsall Manor Hospital .

The successful candidate will work 10 Programmed Activities per week which will include Outpatient, Inpatient and Daycase activity; participation in the hot week rota 1:5 for Urology; independent operating for day unit (endoscopy and prostate biopsy lists); participation in main theatre with a combination of supervised and independent operating.

The department is currently undergoing some exciting service changes, which will have a positive impact on some of the challenges it has faced over the past year and we would welcome someone to join the team who can bring experience and ideas into the service which will further help us on our improvement journey

The successful candidate must possess full GMC registration with Licence to Practice; a basic medical degree, (eg MBBS or equivalent); Completion of at least 4 years full-time postgraduate training (or pro-rata if undertaken on a flexible/part time basis) of which 6 months or more must be in a specialty training or fixed term programme in Urology (or equivalent experience and competencies) with previous NHS experience. The be able to demonstrate wide experience in Urological surgery together with experience of dealing with emergencies and the ability to carry out a full range of Urology practical procedures commensurate with registrar level experience also is desirable.
